Miley Cyrus for Vanity Fair

Disney star Miley Cyrus is under fire recently for her provocative pose for Vanity Fair. For the magazine’s article on Miley, click here.
After the controversial photo came out, Miley issued a statement. She said:
“I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.”
A case of foot-in-mouth I guess because Miley told Vanity Fair writer, Bruce Handy, that she loved the photograph. She said, “Annie took, like, a beautiful shot, and I thought it was really cool. That’s what she wanted me to do, and you can’t say no to Annie. I think it’s really artsy. It wasn’t in a skanky way.”
As for Disney, they issued this statement:
“Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines.“
Vanity Fair stood by its story and they told the New York Times that “Miley’s parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley.”
A source told People that Miley’s parents left before the controversial shot was taken and that her grandmother and teacher stayed on the set. The source added, “Miley’s grandmother and her teacher were there when she shot it. Annie convinced them it was going to be artistic. Her parents are mortified. They know this is a learning moment for Miley. The photo suggests that she is [naked], but she is not. She is covered by a sheet, and beneath the sheet she is clothed. Originally, she was in a flesh-colored tank top but was asked to remove it.“
This is not the first time though that Miley was embroiled in a scandal for she previously appeared in racy pics of her own making. Click here for some pics c/o Perez Hilton’s site.

she should have never apologized and she should have never felt embarassed. She is blessed to have had the opportunity to be the subject of Annie’s photographic analysis… people need to get with the program
I guess Miley caved in to pressure due to the backlash she received for the provocative shot.
And yes, you can’t please everybody but Miley’s lucky that at a young age she was the subject of a world-renowned photographer. Too bad her Vanity Fair shoot courted controversy due to the clothing (or lack of) she wore for one of the photos.
